A medical condition in which the upper part of the stomach (fundus) enters the thoracic cavity through the diaphragm. There is a small opening (hiatus) in the diaphragm for the oesophagus to extend to the stomach. Hiatus opening gets bigger and the stomach pushes up in the chest.
